This was for a final assignment for a video editing course I took. The assignment was to take these recordings that were supplied to us and essentially put the movie together in our own way.
Originally these recordings were for an independent film called Bingo Night which was a comedy involving a grandmother and her friends attempting to rob a bingo hall so they can get enough money for the protagonist who's going through financial troubles. I took on the interesting challenge of turning it from a comedy to a suspenseful drama. Working on this was actually really fun because for different scenes there would be multiple takes so there were lots of different directions to take the video which allowed me to even pursue this idea. My goal in mind for editing this was to add a lot of dread or suspense using sound (sound effects and music) and choosing to tell the story of this grandmother out of order, focusing on a lot of the clips or takes that felt more ominous out of context. |
Video editing is something I've done for many years. Probably almost as long as I've done illustration work. If you've looked through my other projects listed on here, you'll see that I love to incorporate video in them somewhere! A lot of the stuff I've edited together tend to go from purely comedic edits to standard youtube/patreon/vlog-type video edits and occasionally serious/dramatic edits.
